The City of San Francisco and Mayor Gavin Newsom have acknowledged Dhamaal's commitment to the Bay Area community by issuing a Proclamation declaring the opening of the 2nd Annual Dhamaal Sights and Sounds Festival, March 4th 2005 as "Dhamaal Sights and Sounds Day!"

Throughout the month of March Dhamaal will be presenting the Second Annual Dhamaal Sights and Sounds Festival. Join us as we build on the success of last year's Festival by further showcasing artists and music culture from South Asia.

This year's kick off event brings together heavyweight talent for around the world! Sony Gold Award-winning BBC Radio 1 DJs Bobby and Nihal, internationally renowned tabla virtuoso, drummer, and producer Karsh Kale and fellow Six Degrees artist and bay area superstar, Cheb I Sabbah, all at superclub 1015 Folsom on March 4th.

Dhamaal will be uniting the San Francisco world music community under the Sights and Sounds banner during an entire month of events that span Classical Indian, East-West Fusion and Club music. Check out the incredible roster of events below!

Dhamaal is also proud to partner with NAATA as they co-sponsor the Sights and Sounds Festival. NAATA are the organizers of the San Francisco Asian American Film Festival that runs from March 10-20. Dhamaal will be performing at the Film Festival's opening gala at the Asian Art Museum on March 10th.

Friday March 11, 2005: Electric Vardo Opening Night at the Brand New Venue Blue Cube DAS COLLECTIVE brings you an unique Global experience featuring Live Music, DJs, Dance, Visual Art and Culinary Delights. The focus of this opening night will be on the East: South Asia and Beyond, enticing the crowd with infusions of Ragas from the streets of Calcutta complemented by the spicy flavors of Bengal, moving into rhythmic motion with Bhangra dancers, Live Percussion and DJs spinning Tribal Breaks, Exotic House, Global Chill, Middle-Eastern Drum & Bass, and rhythms & melodies from the far off saffron scented lands. Saturday March 26, 2005: Dhamaal Record Release Party for the new 12” Transitions EP at Club Six featuring the whole Dhamaal Crew! Experience 2 floors of traditional S. Asian and Electronic club music as the whole Dhamaal crew lay down their trademark sound at their homebase residency at Club Six. Featured artists include Maneesh the Twister, Janaka Selekta, Ferhan Qureshi, Shabi Farooq, Parag Chordia, Skip Intro, El Diablo, and Nayomi Munaweera.
